Jewel, the eight year old boy, son of Kan- namkunni Reena and Jenson, a native of Kodakara had a cyst in his throat which made it difficult for him to swallow any food and even to talk in December 2006. Doctors at Dhanya hospital, Potta, asked the parents to take the child to Jubilee Mission Medical College for further investigation and treatment. It was diagnosed as the THYROGLOSSAL CYST and the operation was fixed on April 2007 during summer vacation. Since the family came from a poor background they had no other option than to pray for a miraculous inter- vention.

It was the time of the beatification of Mother Euphrasia and scores of miraculous favours were reported by the intercession of Euphrasiamma. On seeing the reports of miraculous healings Jewel’s grand mother asked the other family members to start novena prayers to Euphrasiamma. The entire family prayed to the Mother with tears to heal the little one from the disease. Eventually they noticed that the tumour began to shrink. All were surprised and took the child to the hospital for further investigation. Dr. Sasikumar of Dhanya hospital examined him once again and found the tumour had disappeared. Other surgeons also testified the life transform- ing power of divine hands in this miracle. The testimony was examined by the diocese of Irinjalakuda and the report sent by them was approved by the Medical Commission, the Theologians Consultancy and the Commission of Cardinals in Vatican. Finally, Pope Francis signed the Decree on 3rd March 2014. She was Canonized along with Father Chavara, the founder of CMI and CMC, and four others on 23 November 2014 at St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City, Rome by Pope Francis.
